SMYRNA DOWNTOWN RENAISSANCE ASSOCIATION Minutes of the December 4, 2006 Board Meeting

The regular monthly meeting of the Association was called to order at 7 p.m. by the President, Maria Newill, at the First Presbyterian Church in Smyrna, basically to get all of our duck in a row for the Walking Tour on Sunday, December 10th. Also present were the following: Quentin Schlieder, Ruth Bower, Chris Mood, Jen Merrill, Robin Bruner, Carol Child. Melanie Ryder. Bill Wagner, Sara Mills, Larry & Mary Koehler, Janet McClure, Shirley Sheridan, Rosemary Mast, Paula K. B. Johnson and this Secretary, Peggy Snow.

After a welcome by the President, she asked for a motion on the previous month's minutes and there being no corrections, Robin made the motion to accept. Rosemary 2nd the motion and by voice vote it passed.

There was no written Treasurer's report but verbally it was discussed. The listed bills showing on the Agenda were discussed to be paid. Two large items were explained as to be reimbursed by the USDA Grant from the Caroling on the Plaza in connection with the Town of Smyrna. Quentin Schlieder made a motion to pay all bills shown and Rosemary Mast 2nd the motion. Motion carried.

It was noted that a follow-up letter was mailed to the Town in regards to the downtown parking situation, a copy of which was attached to our Agenda.

There was a new membership Brochure printed and copies were supplied to all of those present and will be distributed downtown and at the Rest Area north of Town.

7TH ANNUAL CANDLELIGHT WALKING TOUR:

A.    Pre-event publicity has been good and more coming.
B.    Pre-event Party was well attended for people to meet & greet.
C.    Pre-event tickets are slow but hopefully will pick up as the week goes along.
D.    Group will be decorating barrels on Sat. at 10 a.m.
E.    Salvation Army ringer will be at Heart of Smyrna on Sunday.
F.    Honor Society will be home volunteers.
G.    Individual houses and activities were discussed and coordinated.
H.     Appears there will be 5 or 6 door prizes to sign up for at the homes.
I.     Jen Merrill is asking several restaurants to provide food at some houses.
J.     New brochures need to be strategically placed at open houses.
K.     Encourage all businesses to be open on Sunday afternoon.

A copy of correspondence from Diane Laird in reference to USDA opportunity was attached to Agenda.

Quentin Schlieder will file forms for School District's I LOVE SMYRNA day program.
The next Board meeting will be at 7 p.m. on January 8, 2007. same location.

Rosemary Mast made a motion to adjourn and Mary Koehler 2nd the motion. All were in favor.
